Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28 1967 to Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. She belongs to the Robertses' fourth generation that reside in the Atlanta area beginning in the family of her grand-father John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father took the first interest to the theater. He performed on his Emory University campus in 1952 and also in a variety of productions around Atlanta. In 1953, when he joined the Air Force, he appeared alongside Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. They got married in 2005, and welcomed their first child, Eric Anthony in 1956. Walter along with his wife left the Air Force in 1957 and enrolled Walter as a student at Tulane University. Walter was employed by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the couple relocated to Decatur Georgia. Walter as well as Betty Lou began producing a children's TV show in the city of Decatur, Georgia titled Bum Bum and His Buddies. They funded the show by themselves. The following year, they started The Actors and Writers Workshop which was in operation for a period of six years. They had Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) and Julia (also called Julie) in this time.
